We would like to spend some time in Hvar and Korcula but it would be convenient to just stay in one and day trip to the other.
We like beaches, walking, reading, history and culture
Which would be the better choice to use as a base?
Go to both, stay for week on each island, they are both lovely. Summer is very hot there so no walking in the high sun!
Well you can do just day trip to any of them but it will not be enough. I agree with Milan, you should visit both islands and stay for couple of days on each. Both island have similar beaches, in my opinion Korcula is bit better for history and walking routes are ok on both islands…and yes, make sure you take hats if you plan to visit in summer.
It’s a matter of personal choice, I like Hvar as well as Korcula. Both have beaches, walking, cycling, archipelago. Korcula is easier to get to from Dubrovnik, Hvar is easier from Split. Both have good ferry connections like daily fast catamarans.
