I am wondering how much time is appropriate to spend at Plitvice Lakes?
We are trying to decide if we should spend the night somewhere around Plitvice or just spend a morning there and for the afternoon to drive down to coast?
We can also spend the night before at Plitvice Lakes so that we can start early if that’s a better idea…
Any thoughts? thx 🙂
I would take at least 4 to 5 hours in Plitvice, it is a large area.
I suggest you to take the bus back so you can spare some time on the return walk.
Also, get there first thing in the morning, they open at around 8:00 so
IMO the whole day should give you plenty of time to walk the paths as well as to take a boat ride which is lovely.
Take the whole day if you can you will not regret its a beautiful around there
The day at Plitvice will involve a lot of walking and you will get tired so I would give it more time, something like 6 to 8 hours to enjoy it properly, to have some breaks for rest and food. It is really worth it.
And I would stay over for another night to have a good night rest before driving further. Look at the map
